  • A Kickstarter for a new sampler has raised more than $1 million in three days. Within hours of the campaign launching on March 28th, CHOMPI had blown past its $30,000 target. With 46 days left to go, the project has currently raised $1,036,035 from 1,886 backers. The majority of donors have pledged $499 to receive the finished synth when it ships in November. CHOMPI is a portable chromatic sampler and tape-looper with a built-in mic. It's built for musicians to easily capture sounds and then loop and manipulate them. The interface is chunky and colourful, and designed to encourage playful experimentation. The company behind the sampler, Chompi Club, is a newcomer to the synth world. It was set up by modular synth producers Chelsea and Tobias Hendrickson, who have been running synth education classes for around a decade. Watch CHOMPI in action.
